Open Grid Alliance Expands Board of Directors and Establishes Workflow Charters as Momentum Builds

BEAVERTON, OREGON, USA, Sept. 1, 2022 / — The Open Grid Alliance (OGA), a collaborative industry organization focused on re-architecting the Internet into a shared global platform that dynamically distributes computing , data and intelligence where application and service demand, today announced an expanded board of directors, its workflow charters, as well as the formal election of co-chairs for each of the workflows. work. These new developments demonstrate the organization’s growing momentum and industry support for OGA’s mission to evolve the Internet We’ve Built into the Internet We Need.

Since its inception, the OGA has brought together a mix of technology leaders who represent diverse global and multi-industry organizations to address the immense challenge of evolving the Internet to meet the needs of the new class of applications.

Four Critical Workflows
The Open Grid Alliance exists to define the principles of the Open Grid and identify the interoperable technologies that can be used to implement them. The organization achieves this by executing strategic workflows that focus on developing technology roadmaps, matching technology to applications, organizing hands-on co-creation foundries in the field where members develop reference implementations and innovation on go-to-market strategies that help achieve commercially viable deployments. The four work streams and their elected co-chairs are:

Grid Think Tank
Charter: Establish the long-term vision for Open Grid and plan to move towards that vision while addressing short-term challenges.
Co-chairs: Meryem Simsek (VMware) and Christian Maciocco (Intel)

Network Innovation Zones
Charter: Discovery, implementation and verification of Open Grid technologies, platforms and tools to establish best practice engineering guidelines for the commercialization of Open Grid.
Co-chairs: Mahdi Hirab (VMware) and Allwyn Sequeira (Highway 9 Networks)

Network industry development
Charter: Identify needs and requirements, and drive adoption of Open Grid for industry solutions by linking with existing industry bodies and the commercial market.
Co-chairs: Andreas Florath (Deutsche Telekom) and a second co-chair to be elected this year

Network market development
Charter: Identify use cases, engage potential customers, translate end-user needs into requirements, while validating and evangelizing solutions.
