Cairns received the Housing Association award as Board Member of the Year

The Leominster Housing Authority accepted several awards at the 2022 Massachusetts National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (MassNAHRO) Conference and Expo at the Sea Crest Hotel on May 23.

Among the awards, Marcia Cairns was selected MassNAHRO Board Member of the Year 2022.

Cairns has been a member of the West Boylston Housing Authority (WBHA) since 2009 and has chaired the board since 2017. The WBHA has been managed by the Leominster Housing Authority since November 2017. Cairns has been significantly involved in the community of West Boylston. and advocate for social housing.

Cairns has lived in West Boylston since 2002 and in addition to serving as Chairman of the WBHA, Cairns has been with the Affordable Housing Trust for three years (assistant for 10 years), is Chairman of the Insurance Advisory Board and a member from the Massachusetts Council on Aging.

Cairns recently attended four lunchtime trainings, in support of local affordable housing efforts, offered by Mass. Housing Partnerships; Conference on the Affordable Housing Trust and the Community Preservation Act.

During Cairns’ career, she was a member of the National Nurses Honor Society, served 12 years on the United Cerebral Palsy of Boston (the last two years as chair of the telethon), and on the Worcester Board of Directors. Regional Transit Authority.

West Boylston Housing Authority is subject to a management agreement with Leominster Housing Authority. the authority also oversees the Sterling Housing Authority, the Lunenburg Housing Authority and the Leominster Development Corp.
