A trio of real estate associations merge and form a new alliance

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – It’s the end of an era for three local real estate groups that are merging to form the Northwest Illinois Alliance of Realtors.

Rockford Area Realtors, the Belvidere Board of Realtors and the Realtors Association of Northwestern Illinois are merging into an alliance covering six northern Illinois counties (Boone, Winnebago, Ogle, Stephenson, Jo Davies and Carroll) and providing support for realtors from Belvidere to Galena and South from Beloit to Oregon.

786 members made up Rockford Area Realtors prior to the merger. The new alliance grows to 1,144 (1,018 real estate agents and 126 affiliate members), a 45.5% increase in membership.

“I think it’s extremely exciting that we’ve brought together three groups who are wonderful, like-minded members, and each of the three areas who bring great leadership skills, volunteerism and enthusiasm to have this new strength. in our community,” says the Northwest Illinois Alliance. President, Ginger Sreenan.

Executives say the merger offers several benefits to real estate agents and landlords and can provide better quality services. They say this deal could have an economic impact of $1.6 billion: $1.16 billion from sales and $453 million in additional impact for homes sold in Illinois according to the association.

“It provides greater numbers so that you have greater strength in numbers to implement new programs and effectiveness within our community for our legislatures,” Sreenan says.

“It will be so helpful to have all the information in one multi-listing service instead of us having to search through two or three or maybe even four depending on what location our customers are looking for,” says Amy Barnes, Member from the administration board.

Service Consolidation helps realtors connect with home buyers and sellers on a personal level. Executives also hope the alliance will give real estate a stronger voice to lawmakers in Springfield and Washington D.C.

“It shows them that we’re an integral part of the equation if they’re going to achieve that American dream,” Sreenan says.

The headquarters of the real estate association will become local chapters allowing the newly formed alliance to make local decisions in each market.

Discussions for the alliance had been in talks between the three associations for 30 years.
